A crooked police detective commits a murder and threatens to pin it on the suitably useless Simon, but a surveillance video of the killing lies in a bank vault; so, gathering together an eclectic group of his ex-customers, parole officer Simon sets about retrieving it. However, for a man who has difficulty crossing the road without incident, this is never going to be a smooth job! 'The Parole Officer' is Steve Coogan's first movie and he plumps for a character that plays rather like a nicer, less tragic version of Alan Partridge, it's light, silly, often funny and has that unmistakable "British Comedy" whiff about it.
